Last month I made a quick trip to Penang, Malaysia. Staying in Georgetown was the perfect spot to spend my time wandering around the little streets and keeping an eye art for gems like these:

Since Georgetown was made a UNESCO World Cultural Heritage Site in 2007, there has been a sustained effort to draw in local and foreign artists to decorate the streets.

Some of my favorite pieces I saw were done by a Lithuanian artist. Unfortunately I only noticed two of his clever pieces, the first image in this post and this:

Some rogue street artists have also joined in.

you really captured the street art in george town perfectly. i honestly can’t think of a city i’ve enjoyed walking around in more than there.
Thanks – It was fun going around and finding new pieces. I haven’t noticed street art in Thailand’s cities and towns like I did in Penang!
Wow, I love this street art, it’s absolutely amazing. Especially the first one of the kids on the bikes
I actually wrote a post about street art from around the world a little while ago, I’m so obsessed with it!
I really like the bike and motorcycle one too! I think it’s incredible to see what others can imagine and create with a blank space – I would just always look and see a wall, but they can see something different and then actually realize it.
Super cool. I love street art.
I’m loving the street art! I’m hitting up Penang early next year and now I know what I have to look forward to! these look beautiful!
Try to find more pieces then I did!
love this! i’ll be in penang next year and hope i can find some street art as cool as these!
Look at their tourism board site while you’re there for more info and locations of pieces…I should have don’t that while I was there to see more, but it was fun just turning around the corner and being surprised by something
